PANAJI: Goa women’s kho-kho team finished 12th while the men’s team were 13th at 44th Senior National Kho-kho Championship held at Mumbai. The women’s team lost to eventual champions Maharashtra in the pre-quarterfinals. The men’s team lost to a strong Kerala side.

In position deciding matches, Goa men defeated Pondicherry and Gujrat but lost to Haryana to finish 13th. Goa women beat Karnataka to finish 12th in the 30-team competition. Meanwhile, selection of kho-kho teams which will participate in 21st Sub-junior National Kho-kho Championship to be held in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, will be done on May 30 from 9 a.m. at Open ground, PJN stadium, Fatorda, Margao. Players born on or after January 1, 1996 are eligible to participate. The players should report with original age proof to Mr B V Kargar, Mr L J Lima or Mr Prakash Khanolkar, All Goa Kho-kho Association said in a press release here.
