PANAJI: Goa’s Irineu Gonsalves secured sixth place at the Bayer National Scrabble Championship held at Chembur Gymkhana, Mumbai recently.
The three-day event spanning 24 rounds attracted over 50 participants from across the country. Sherwin Rodrigues from Mumbai took top honours while Mohan Chunkath (Chennai) and Nakul Prabhu (Mumbai) finished second and third respectively.
Other Goans Jacky Fernandes, Charles Carneiro and Douglas Lobo finished at 7th, 8th and 11th place respectively. Joe Rodrigues, Basil Pinto, Rajiv Antao, Savio Pinto and Sylvia Coelho were the other participants from the state.
