PANAJI: Ilhas Veterans defeated Bardez Veterans 3-0 in the inaugural match of All Goa Dempo veterans soccer organised by Goa Veterans Football Club.

In the tournament teams will play home and away matches. In the first fixture, a league cum knock-out match played at Don Bosco ground here, fancied Ilhas easily got past Bardez.

Ilhas created many scoring opportunities in the first half but could not breach the Bardez defence led by an alert Bharat Morje under the bar. However, Ilhas went into the break with a 1-0 lead as the opener came in the dying minutes of the session as Frankie Mascarenhas scored off a pass from Prakash Chari.

Bardez went all out for the leveller in the second half but tight defending by Minguel Miranda and Daniel Noronha eluded them. But Ilhas pumped in two late goals as Charles Lobo scored the second off a beautiful pass from Paulo Almeida and Verisimo Rodrigues completed the tally after he scored from a wall pass by Francis Dias.
