MAPUSA: Hosts Sai Avatar Sports Club received a stiff challenge from Football Club of Siolim, as they got the better of them with a narrow 4-3 win to enter the quarters of the Sai Avatar Super Cup at Anjuna Gymkhana grounds, Tembi Saturday.

Anjuna started brightly and went into the breather with a three-goal cushion through the goals scored by Saprem Diukar and Christopher D’Souza (2). However, the Anjuna side were taken by surprise as Siolim managed to level terms through Claudio Rodrigues (2) and Pravin Gaunkar. Finally, two minutes before the final whistle, Rajesh Shirodkar’s long ranger sent the Anjuna supporters in raptures.
