Don Bosco Oratory thrash Wilred Leisure 4-0

PANAJI: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda clinched the opening contest of St Anthony’s Super Soccer with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim at the Directorate of Sports grounds, Colva on Saturday. They led 2-0 at halftime.

DBO were the superior side today as their victory was set up by Valent D’Silva’s three-goal blitz, which left the Wilred side with no ground to recover.
Valent opened the account in the 27th minute and then doubled the lead in the 32nd to give the winners a firm 2-0 cushion at the halfway mark. Crossing over, Francis Andrade buttressed the score in the 45th minute, while Valent rounded off the tally with a fine strike in the 58th minute to put his team ahead in the tournament.
Wilred were below par and had no answer to their rival’s tactics. Most of the chances that came their way were blown away as players seemed all at sea as far as putting the ball into the goal was concerned. Peter Fernandes had a chance to score off a set piece but his try was nullified in the goal by the DBO keeper.
The tournament was declared open by assistant parish priest of Colva Church, Fr Agnelo Dias in presence of Mr Arun Sanzgiri, former president of St Anthony’s Colva.
