MARGAO: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda entered the finals of Custodio Memorial Football tournament when they downed Sporting Club of Davorlim 4-2 via the tie-breaker in an exciting semi-finals played at panchayat grounds, Raia, Saturday.
The teams played a goalless draw in regulation time even as both the teams had chances which came few and far between.
Both the teams were equally balanced and played a defensive game rather than going for the attack which rather slowed down the pace of the match. As a result, there were hardly good moves made to get across to find goals by both the teams.
Even in the second session, both the teams tried to gauge the strength of each other and hardly went into the attacking mode. Most of the time, the ball was confined to midfield.
On one occasion, Sporting Club Davorlim’s keeper brought off a spectacular save from a powerful shot taken by Oratory’s Blaze Faleiro which could have killed the game in the regulation time itself had the keeper failed to respond effectively.
To settle the deadlock, the tie-breaker system was adopted in which Don Bosco Oratory proved to be better shooters scoring accurately through Vincent Barbosa,Winson Dias,Savio Quadros and Michael Faleiro.
Sporting Club of Davorlim could find the mark only through Bruno Costa and Jose Colaco.
Don Bosco Oratory now await the winners of other semi-finals which will be played between Navelim Sporting and Curtorim Gymkhana on Monday.
