CM kicks off Coca-Cola Celebration Cup

PANAJI:  Adding to the fervour of the FIFA World Cup 2010, Coca-Cola India today announced its partnership with Goa Football Association (GFA) to organise ‘The Coca-Cola Celebration Cup’, a grassroot level championship, to discover young promising football talent in Goa.

To announce the partnership, a special event was organised which was attended by the Chief Minister, Mr Digamber Kamat, Ms Victoria Fernandes, MLA, Mr Savio Messias, GFA secretary  and Mr Anand Singh, Director Marketing, Coca-Cola India. Also present at the event were Bruno Coutinho, former Indian footballer and Arjuna awardee, Mr Victor Gonsalves, ex-MLA, St Cruz and Mr Ramkrishna  Dhavliker, Minister for Transport.  The Under-16 inter-village tournament is being organised, involving 48 village teams of Goa. To kick-off the tournament, the first match was played today between C S Miguel de Taleigao and Aivao YC. In the inaugural match C S Miguel de Taleigao won by a margin of 6-0. This latest initiative is a part of Coca-Cola India’s activation around the FIFA World Cup in India. In addition, the initiative also takes forward the company’s commitment to not only create a sporting culture but also promote healthy active living in
the country.
