PANAJI: Chowgule SC defeated hosts Panjim Gymkhana by 147 runs to score a big win in the group ‘B’ league match of the Bandodkar cricket tournament at Panjim Gymkhana grounds, on Saturday.

Dheeraj Narvekar was the man behind Chowgule’s win with a superb 125 runs in 109 balls with 12 hits to the fence as he also hit two towering sixes.
Chowgule SC amassed a massive 328 for 9 in their allotted 40 overs. Besides Narvekar’s century, Santosh Shinde made 54 while Ryan D’Souza added 36 runs. Buddhadeb Mangaldas (27), Amogh Desai (19), Yeshwant Raikar (26) and Reagan Pinto (11) chipped in with useful runs. Kiran Mistri (3-51) and Nilesh Mulgaonkar (2-40) were the pick of the bowlers. Sachin Sardesai and Mayuresh Chari claimed one wicket each.
Panjim Gymkhana’s reply was pedestrian as they managed only 181 for 9. Nilesh Mulgaonkar top-scored with 46 runs while Donwill Rodrigues made 44. Sachin Sardesai (37) and Mayuresh Chari (23) also played their role to a nicety with the bat. Reagan Pinto claimed 4-28 while Sagar Uddeshi, Yeshwant Raikar and Aquib Sayed managed to claim one
wicket each.
