MAPUSA: St Cruz Sports Club, Cavelossim came out all guns blazing in the second session to demolish St Savio’s Sports Club, Calangute 5-2 in their last round match of GFA’s Second Division Inter Zonal play-offs played at Duler grounds, on Sunday.

In a crunch encounter, the Calangute outfit started off on a bright note, as Xavier Clemente opened the scoring in the 7th minute itself. In the 24th minute, Calangute were in cruise control as Joseph Noronha added another to the tally. However, the Cavelossim side pulled themselves back into the match as Nelson Gomes and Edwin Dias scored in the space of four minutes to see the teams locked 2-2, at the breather.
However, the change of ends saw the visitors outplay their opponents Calangute, who seemed running out of steam.
John Barretto handed Cavelossim the lead in the 62nd minute, before Remy Colaco added his name to the score sheet in the 77th minute. Nelson fired the last salvo for the Salcete outfit in the dying moments of the match.
