MAPUSA: Candolim Sports Club stormed into the finals of the Nerul Panchayat Cup, as they defeated Saligao United by a 4-3 margin at Nerul grounds on Wednesday.  Both the teams played on equal footing in the 70 minutes of duel.

Trevor Dias failed to get past the Candolim Bharat Morje in one-to-one situation. It was then the turn of Candolim, where in the 18th minute Wesleslau Rebello latched a rasping shot which hit the side post, before traveling out. Manuel Lopes had all the time in the world to connect Wesleslau Rebello’s cross in the open Saligao goal, but he failed miserably. In the tie breaker Shanker Palyekar, Sarvesh Kanekar, Kliber D’Souza ad Joelief Simoes shot on target for Candolim, while Nestor Dias, Trevor Dias and M A Francis scored for Saligao.
