PANAJI: Betalbatim Sports Club entered the quarter-finals of St Anthony’s Super Soccer, organised by St Anthony’s Club Colva after they beat Young Strikers Benaulim 1-0 in a match played at DSYA ground, Colva on Sunday.

The match was keenly contested but a 22nd minute strike from Denzil Regtao was enough for Betalbatim to secure a place in the quarters. Denzil scored the winner after he connected a fine cross by Alwick Fernandes.
Young Strikers tried desperately for the equaliser in the second half, but Desmond Fernandes led the Betalbatim defence well as the Benaulim side found it difficult to penetrate the rival defence. A free-for-all heated up the things at the fag end of the match which resulted in referee sending off a player each from both teams as Hasten D’Costa of Betalbatim and Lionel Rodrigues of Benaulim were shown the red card. Joe Max of Betalbatim was awarded the man-of-the-match.
