PANAJI: Betalbatim Sporting Club defeated Arpora Sporting 4-2 via the tie-breaker and made their entry into the quarter-finals of 14th Holy Cross soccer tournament, organised by Holy Cross Sports Club, Vodlemoll, Kakoda.

In the first half, Betalbatim made a good start and raided the rival area through long rangers but the Arpora goalkeeper produced some brilliant saves and did not allow Betalbatim to hit the nets.
In the second session, it was Betalbatim once again who went all out to break the goalless deadlock but their strikers were denied any breakthroughs by the stubborn Arpora defenders. With the score remaining 0-0 at full time, the tie-breaker was put to use. In the penalty shoot-out, Desmond Fernandes, Cajie D’Souza, Jose Fernandes and Alison Rogtao were on target for Betalbatim whereas Amit Fernandes and Premnath Gadekar scored for Arpora Sporting.
