KOLKATA: The final leg of the under-19 football tournament of the I-League teams will get underway with Mohun Bagan taking on JCT at their home ground on Sunday.
Six under-19 teams — East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Sporting Clube de Goa, Dempo, Pune FC and JCT — divided in two groups will vie for top honours in the final leg as the tournament will see the country’s top youngsters in action.
Having finished second behind Kolkata group toppers East Bengal, Mohun Bagan have been clubbed with Sporting Clube de Goa and JCT in one group. The other group features East Bengal with Pune FC and Dempo. Top two teams of each group will lock horns in the summit clash on May 30.
In the preliminary stage, the I-League teams were divided into Kolkata, Phagwara and Goa groups. Sporting Clube were toppers in the Goa group while Dempo finished second. In the Phagwara group, Pune FC took the top honours ahead of JCT to make the final
round cut.
