KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan defeated JCT 2-0 to begin their campaign in style in the final leg of the U-19 football tournament for I-League teams on Sunday.

Overcoming a stiff resistance from the JCT boys, Mohun Bagan took the lead in the second half when Souvik Chakraborty scored in the 40th minute. Down 0-1, the visitors, who arrived only Saturday, failed to come back on the new turf at Mohun Bagan ground. Taking the advantage, Mohun Bagan scored once more when Dipendu Duari found the back of the net just five minutes before the final whistle.
Mohun Bagan, who now have three points, have one more match left against Sporting Clube de Goa in their group. Another win will take them to the summit clash. The other group features East Bengal, Dempo and Pune FC and toppers of both the groups clash in the final on May 30.
