MAPUSA: Arpora Sporting Club were stretched into the penalty shootout as they defeated Candolim Sports Club 5-4 to enter the quarters of the Sai Avatar Super Cup at Anjuna Gymkhana grounds, Tembi Tuesday.

At the end of the regulation time, the teams were locked in a 1-1 draw. Victor Lobo’s cross in the first session was misjudged by Candolim keeper Elvis Pereira to see Alister Lobo tap the ball into the empty goal, 1-0. On crossing over, Candolim exerted pressure and managed to level terms through a 25-yard strike by Canute D’Souza. Arpora scored four of their penalty kicks while Candolim managed to score only three.
