MAPUSA: AA de Moira claimed three full points in the GFA 3rd Division League when they registered a comprehensive 4-1 win over Augustius Sports Club, Pomburpha at Quitula gounds on Thursday.
After drawing their first match, Moira were eager to snatch their first win of the campaign and were off to a flying start as striker Peter Menezes found the nets in the 15th minute, to hand Moira a 1-0 lead at the breather.
After much probing, Moira finally doubled their advantage in the 76th minute through Sheker Kerker, who struck from the dreaded spot after Peter was brought down inside the rival danger zone by Pomburpha defender Paul Pinto.
Two minutes later, Sheker completed his brace as his free-kick from outside the box beat the rival keeper hands down.
Augustius did have a moment of joy in the 85th minute as Pundalik Naik reduced the deficit, but their efforts proved a little too late as a minute later Moira pulled the curtains on the game with Joseph Noronha making it 4-1, in favour of Moira.
Among other matches, Our Lady of Gloria SC defeated Raitura Sports Club 1-0 at Loutulim grounds, with Merrick D’Mello scoring the all-important goal in the 63rd minute. Dramapur Sports Club were in ominous form as they vanquished Davorlim Sports Club 4-0 at Areal grounds. Stalin Baptiste opened the score in the 44th minute while Terence Soares buttressed the score with a brace of goals in the 52nd and 67th minute. Trevor Pinto completed the rout in the 80th minute.
A brace from Vincent Mascarenhas (21st and 63rd) ensured a facile 2-0 victory for United Club of Telaulim against Carmel SC at Navelim grounds.
At Santa Cruz, Crown Club and Portais Sporting Club played out a 1-1 draw. Rohan Fernandes neutralised the deficit late in the 89th minute after Portais Sporting Club had taken an early lead in the 23rd minute off Hitesh Haldankar.
St Anthony’s Club, Colva 2 and CRC Chinchinim were engaged in a 2-2 draw and Dando grounds. Jovisto Fernandes (20th ) and Manford Fernandes (36th) scored for Colva club while for Chinchinim it was Ashley Rebello (78th) and Paulito Carvalho (90th) who equalised the proceedings. At Taleigao grounds, Odxel SC suffered a 1-2 defeat to CDJ Ribander.
