MAPUSA: Shadabe Shaik’s two-goal blitz enabled Calangute Association to register a 2-0 win over Corps of Signals, in the GFA’s First Division League played at Poriat grounds, Calangute here on Monday.

Signals started brightly, but it was the home team Calangute who forged ahead in the 15th minute of play through Shadabe Shaikh’s brilliant header, off a pinpoint cross from Pradeep Chopdekar.
On resumption of play, in the 17th minute, once again Shadabe Shaikh, received an intelligent through pass from medio Anthony Gonsalves, and smartly lobbed the ball over Signals keeper B K  Das, 2-0.
As the match progressed, Signals tried their best to wipe out the two-goal deficit. However, in the 20th minute, Calangute’s Saprem Diukar and Signals’ Kunal Sarkar, were caught kicking each other and referee Chandrashekar Shirodkar, sent off both the players.
Shadab Shaikh almost scored his hat-trick, five minutes later, but Signals keeper flung to his left to push the ball for a corner.
It was some brilliant keeping by Calangute keeper Oliver D’Souza who denied thrice Roshan Singh’s goal bound attempts, in the last quarter of the match. Two minutes before the final hooter Sadab Shaikh’s and Weslau Rebello’s shots were blocked by Signals’ keeper.
