MAPUSA: Hosts PVC Parra held on to their nerves to register a narrow 5-4 win via sudden death of the tie-breaker over Adarsh Yuvak Sangh, Saligao to enter the next round of 4th Parra Panchayat Cup inaugural match played at Dr Gustavo Monteiro grounds, Candolim, on Monday.

In an exciting encounter, both the teams were content with the goalless scoreline at the lemon-break.
However, the change of ends saw the teams change their strategies and go all out in search of the winner.
But it was the hosts who broke the deadlock midway into the second session, when Jessito Fernandes’ 20-yard free -kick dipped into the Saligao nylons.
Just as Parra looked set for a win, Saligao levelled the issue as winger Siddesh Keserkar’s effort deflected off a Parra defender into the rival nets. With normal time unable to separate the teams, the tie- breaker was brought into play, wherein Parra scored through Jessito, Waldron, Joseph, Brijesh and Garry, while Jayesh, Avelino, Francis and Nakul were on target for Saligao.
Earlier, Mr Benedict D’Sousa, Sarpanch Parra VP, kicked off the tournament in the presence of Mr Gajanan Kerkar and Mr George Rodrigues.
