Panaji: Sporting Clube de Goa overcame stiff challenge from Churchill Brothers Sports Club with a 2-1 win to enter the final of the Goa Football Association U-16 League match played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Panjim, on Sunday. The winners scored in the either half.
Both the teams started the match on a cautious note but it was Sporting Clube de Goa who took the lead in the 11th minute through Joseph
The end to end battle witnessed plenty of missed chances for the Red Machine while Sporting Clube de Goa keeper kept the side ahead with some brilliant saves.
Crossing over, Sporting Clube de Goa doubled the account in the 58th minute through Francisco Fernandes. After the second goal, Sporting Clube de Goa resorted to defensive game plan as they added more men to their defence.
Churchill were better in the second half in comparison to their first half performance. The young Red Machine managed to pull one back through Aditya Salgaonkar. Churchill Brothers tried their best to find the equaliser but they couldn’t get past the rival defence.
