Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora organised a special lecture as part of ‘Constitution of India Week’. Resource persons for the same were students from G R Kare Law College, Margao, namely, Pradeep Kashyap, Jyoti Gosavi, Sunita Khetri, Yogita Kamat, Veda Dalvi and Mohini Gaude.
Principal, Manasvi Kamat welcomed resource persons and expressed her delight at the fact that the college was the first to hold a special lecture as part of ‘Constitution of India Week’. She reminded students that as many of them studied business law as part of the syllabus it was beneficial for them to understand what sections of the Constitution influence the conduct of business in the country.
Resource persons explained what the Constitution meant and why B R Ambedkar is considered the architect of the Indian Constitution. They enlightened the audience about the preamble and made clear why the Constitution is both ‘Rigid and Flexible.’ Parliamentary form of government, directive principles governing state policies, fundamental rights and fundamental duties, and the differences between them were explained. The law students dealt with concepts such as independent judiciary, secular state, single citizenship and right to constitutional remedies.
The session ended with a short oral quiz and spot prizes. The programme was attended by a 100 students.
