Jeevan Saphalya, a one-day state level workshop on skill enhancement for special children was organised by National Service Scheme of Government College Quepem in association with Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Panaji.
Chief guest for the event was MLA, Curchorem constituency, Nilesh Cabral. In his address Cabral appreciated the NSS unit for selecting sensitive issues specific to special children and for making an attempt to form a relation with college students. He said: “Every chid is gifted with talent and it is our duty to find out the each child’s hidden talent and encourage them to explore it to the fullest.”
About 96 participants from five special schools from Quepem, Curchrem and Salcete talukas participated in the event. The workshop had various sessions like yoga and pranayama by Kaustubh Kamat, meditation techniques by Brahma Kumari Sangeeta Bahen of Curchorem Centre, art and craft session by professor Juliana Silveira, zumba and dandiya dance by Shubham Rane and Bhavika Madgaonkar groups.
As a part of the orientation programme workshops on awareness and the need for value education, health education, eradication of social evils and vices among the youth, educative programmes on life skills, organisation of adventure camps, skill development programmes, promoting various schemes of community services such as swachh bharat abhiyan, open defecation free villages, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Nari Shakti, etc, were suggested by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
