Curtorim: Sao Jose de Areal entered the quarterfinals of Wilred Leisure Soccer Tournament defeating Cuncolim Union 7-4 via the tie breaker played at Curtorim grounds on Wednesday. The teams played a 3-3 draw during the regulation time.
It was the Cuncolim Union team that went into the lead through a goal scored by Trevon Dias in the very 6th minute when he beat Sao Jose de Areal keeper with an angular effort.
Cuncolim Union then began to create some good moves and buttressed their lead through Frazer Fernandes in the 11th minute of play.
It was Sao Jose de Areal’s turn thereafter to do the attacking and after some consistent efforts to find the mark, Areal succeeded in bulging the nets in the 16th minute through Daryl Fernandes to reduce the margin.
Daryl Fernandes thereafter scored two more goals, finding the mark in the 24th and 25th minute to complete his hat-trick.
Cuncolim Union worked hard and after missing some easy chances, Frazer Fernandes who was the most dangerous player in the box, scored his second goal for the day, to come on level terms 3-3 just a few minutes from the final hooter.
In the tie breaker Sao Jose de Areal proved to be the better shooters, scoring accurately accurately through Daryl Costa, Vishal Fernandes, Aliston Camotio and Raymond Fernandes. Cuncolim Union could find the mark only thrugh Frazer Fernandes in the tie breaker.
