It is celebration time at The Goa Institute of Management (GIM), Sanquelim, with the institute completing 25 years. The annual convocation for batch 2017-18 was a part of the celebrations. In all students received their MBA diplomas from chief guest Deepak Parekh, chairman, HDFC Bank.
Speaking to students, Parekh said, “As you leave this institution, you not only take with you knowledge on specific subjects but also key tools of life which are being responsive, creative and enterprising. With these skill sets the sky is the limit to what can be achieved.”
Parekh pointed out that, GIM has carved a niche for itself among B-schools. “The institution is ahead of the curb by introducing new programs that are relevant to current trends,” said Parekh.
GIM board of governors and faculty were in full attendance at the convocation. Prof. Ajit Parulekar, director, GIM, highlighted the achievements of the B-school and said that students received placement offers from some of the top companies in India which included McKinsey, Citi Bank, WNS Global Services, Kraft Heinz, Vedanta, NeoNiche, Digit General Insurance and Pharmaceuticals, Insurance, Healthcare IT, Operations, Market research and start-ups among others. Most of the students have received lucrative placement offers, said Parulekar.
The Damodar Sripad Borkar gold medal for best academic performance PGDM was won by student Varun Khanuja while Aishwarya (Ankita) Ugam Sinai Usgaokar received the GIM silver medal for academic performance. The Dr Deepa Martin’s Memorial Award for special recognition of extra- curricular activities was awarded to Pai Khot Dinraj Vijaykumar while, Blossom D’souza received the Nirmal Goswami Gold Medal for communications. The GIM Alumni Association gold medal for best summer project was bagged by Vidhi Agarwal. The coveted Fr. Romuald D’Souza gold medal for best student of the year was awarded to Anjali Bhat. GIM gold medal for best academic performance for the PGDM-PT program was awarded to Saurabh Saxena who also won the Dr. Francis & Chantal Pinto award for the best student. The GIM gold medal for academic performance at the health care management program was to Prathamesh Gurudas Pai Bir and the silver medal to Costa Roana Maria.
