Duler: Corps of Signals came from behind to beat Vasco Sports Club 2-1 in a thrilling Goa Professional League encounter played at Duler Stadium, on Sunday.
Vasco SC took the lead in the 65th minute through Shree Bibetta, but Signals came back strongly in the final quarter of the game to score two quick goals – first by Aniket Singh in the 78th minute and the second through Nokul Singh in the 85th minute.
The win helped Signals climb to 10th position with 14 points from 16 matches while Vasco SC remain on 11th position with 13 points from similar outings.
The match lived up to the expectation as the relegation battle saw fierce fight between the two sides. There were great chances, moves generated, shots at goals, shots at the posts, good saves too but just the goal eluded both the sides as neither could manage to break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes.
However, the second session saw three goals being scored. It was Vasco SC who took the lead through Bibette who was fed by Vasco player in the box from a Micky’s corner.
Signals put up a better performance as compared to the one they put in the previous game and soon restored parity through Aniket. Signals scored the match-winner in the 85th minute when Nokul Singh’s long range effort took a deflection off a Vasco SC defender and entered the goal.
