Siddheshwar Sports and Cultural Club, Bicholim and Velsao Sports and Cultural Club played out an exciting 3-3 draw in a well-contested match of GFA Air Arabia U-18 Football League, at artificial grounds, Fatorda-Margao on Wednesday.
Ronaldo Coelho impressed for Velsao SCC as he netted a brace (4th and 50th minute) while their other goal was scored by Norman Mascarenhas (56th minute).
For Siddheshwar SCC, it was Sanket Zore who stole the limelight with a double as he found the mark in the 24th and 64th minute. Devesh Bhamaikar (17th minute) was the other goal-scorer for the Bicholim side.
It was Velsao SCC who went into the lead in the very 4th minute through Ronaldo Coelho. A long pass from the centre went to Ronaldo Coelho who was ideally placed and he lost no time in slamming the ball in.
Siddheswhwar SCC came back strongly to restore parity in the 17th minute through their attacking medio Devesh Bhamaikar, who scored after receiving a defence-splitting pass from the right flank.
The team from Bicholim thereafter went into the lead after Velsao’s defender Rizlon Fernandes brought down Siddheshwar’s Revat Gauade in the penalty box with the referee having no hesitation in awarding a penalty kick. Sanket Zore stepped forward and banged it in to give Siddheshwar 2-1 lead.
The second session saw both the teams improving their match by few notches as they tried outwitting each other on speed and sudden moves.
And as the game entered in the 50th minute, Velsao SCC produced a breakaway move as Ronaldo scored with an angular shot to level the score, 2-2.
Six minutes later, it was now the turn of Velsao’s Norman Mascarenahs to find the mark with an elegant effort. But then Siddheshwar SCC showed great resilience and came back strongly into the game as they levelled the score (3-3) through Sanket Zore in the 64th minute.
Meanwhile, Snows FA blanked Macasana WC 4-0 in the league’s other match played at Curtorim ground.
Snows FA started attacking from the word go and managed to find the breakthrough in the 3rd minute itself as Max Colaco slotted the ball past the rival keeper to make it 1-0.
Macasana WC tried to make a comeback into the game trying their level best to make it all square, however, Snows FA surged ahead yet again as they doubled their lead in the 22nd minute through Josico Fernandes.
Snows then went on to score their third goal of the match on the 30th minute through Cliford Gomes before going into the breather.
Post resumption, Irfan Yadwad drive the final nail into the coffin in the 43rd minute to take the game away from the Macasana side.
