Shri Shantadurga HS, Bicholim wins The Navhind Times Quiz

The grand finale of The Navhind Times Quiz organised by The Navhind Times in association with Bank of Maharashtra as their principal sponsor was held at the Dempo House, Panaji on Tuesday. Around 200 teams from schools across Goa participated in the quiz in a bid to secure the title of Best Quizzer. After battling against each other and showcasing their intellectual skills six schools qualified into the final round for a grand finale face off. The finale comprised of a total of six rounds which tested the students’ intellectual and analytical ability. Simran Gupta and Saurav Mudali from Our Lady of Miracles, Sanguem; Dhruv Bhende and Shubham Rane from Sarvodaya Educational Society High School, Quepem and Jeremiah Pacheco and Keegan Antao from Loyola High School, Margao (Salcete) represented South Goa finalist. Zenia Braganza and Rahee Kowalkar from St Mary’s Convent, Mapusa (Bardez); Sarvesh Lad and Rishikesh Kalghatkar from Mustifund High School, Panaji (Tiswadi) and Shamik Shetty and Pratosh Pal from Shri Shantadurga High School, Bicholim represented North Goa finalist. Quizmaster was Rajiv D’Silva who hosted the grand finale round.
Turning the tables at the last moment, Shri Shantadurga High School, Bicholim emerged victorious with the students securing the first place, a trophy and Firefox cycles sponsored by Firefox Cycles. Mustifund High School, Panaji emerged runners-up and secured a trophy and Firefox cycles. The third and fourth places were awarded to students of Sarvodaya Educational Society High School, Quepem and Loyola High School, Margao who were presented with watches sponsored by Time Collection.
For the first time in the history of the Quiz a school from neither Tiswadi nor Salcete emerged champion thus breaking the monotony. Dignitaries present for the award distribution ceremony were zonal manager, Bank of Maharashtra, Deepak Ghote and deputy general manager, The Navhind Times, Vijay Kalangutkar. In his address Ghote congratulated the winning schools and other participating schools. He also spoke about various schemes introduced by the Bank of Maharashtra for the benefit of students. The quiz was sponsored by Firefox Cycles, Time Collection, Real’s, Veljee Motors and Cremeux and channel partners GOA 365.
