Yukthi Patil, Daisy Crasto and Suveda Kokate starred for Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna scoring a goal each in their 3-0 win over Our Lady of Rosary HS, Navelim in the first semis on Thursday. However, the one who caught the eyes of all and sundry was the tall and well-built attacking medio Yukthi Patil.
It was the hard work of this 15-year-old Std X student, who with the support of her other colleagues dictated terms to their rivals in both the sessions of play.
Yukthi was seen running all over the field distributing the ball to her colleagues and impressing to a great extent with her footwork and fire power. During their game on Thursday, two to three defenders of Our Lady of Rosary HS were seen marking her closely in order to contain her moves.
Yukthi has been a consistent scorer for her team in the competition so far. It is often seen that when the ball is at her feet, one never knows when will she strike it — even from long distance. She has the ability to shoot the ball so hard that even a boy of her age would struggle shoot with that power.
Yukthi is fast and dashing on the ball, and if trained properly has the ability to make it big. “She has a bright future in football,” said a professional coach who came to witness the proceedings at the Nehru Stadium here.
“I and my sister Isha practice every day besides studying together regularly. Our PT teacher and our coach who has been training us from Std V have also been encouraging us to play well,” said Yukthi.
About her future, Yukhti, the girl from Assolna, said that she wants to become a teacher and wants to study hard to fulfill her dream.
