With the sole purpose of improving quality education in K-12 schools, Mind Mingle is organising its 9th Inspirational Festival – ‘Conference on School Education’ for the first time in Goa on September 1. The chief guest for the conference is Governor of Goa, Mridula Sinha while the programme convenor is former pro vice chancellor IGNOU, professor, M M Pant.
The inspiration festival, as the name suggests features inspiring people sharing their life’s journey and ideas with the belief that everything is possible, and to make the audience aware of various innovative creative ideas, to transform education, and to transform lives. “The theme of the festival is ‘Beyond Boundaries’ because many a times we cannot achieve our goals only because of the limitations of our own thoughts, hence this conference will bring educators who went beyond all the boundaries and brought changes in teaching and learning,” says chief-giving-officer, Mind Mingle, Shakeel Ahmad.
The conference includes talks by thinkers and doers, inspiring musical performances by musicians followed by a Q&A session. It is meant for school owners, principals and senior teachers who are willing to see new dimensions of teaching and learning in the 21st century and are willing to take steps to transform education in India. Ahmad says: “As of now only 15-20 people have enrolled for the conference from Goa while other educators are travelling from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Assam, Bangalore etc to attend this event.”
The conference, he says, will benefit everyone who is connected to education. “We talk about solutions instead of the problem. It’s a really good opportunity to for the schools in Goa to come and grab this opportunity right here in their state,” he adds.
Ahmad believes that once the foundation is strong, a child can make his own way and be unstoppable in achieving what he wants. He aims to inspire schools and educators to be more innovative, simply because there has been very less amount of innovation in education than any other sector, this despite the fact that education is the most important and powerful tool that we can have.
As to why they chose Goa for the conference, Ahmad says the state offers a relaxed atmosphere. “Educators have a really hectic schedule every day, they are managing so many people, be it students, teachers, parents or administration etc. Thus having conference at such a beautiful relaxing destination will help them absorb all the ideas and think about their implementation in a much better way than any other noisy metro city,” he concludes.
(The conference will be held on September 1, 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at Panjim Convention Centre. Registration fee is Rs3,500 per person. Details: www.theinspirationfestival.com/ 9821467760)
