Goa Banjara Youth Association along with Rastriya Banjara Parishad in association with Directorate of Art and Culture organised a National Banjara festival ‘Satrangi 2018’. The national level event had inter Banjara talent search competitions and was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were Swami Somling Maharaj; Sant Sevalal film director, C K Pawar; Banjara film singer, Bikshu Naik; Banjara actor/director, Dilraj Banjara from Gujrat; Anand Angadi and Goa Banjara youth president, Ganesh Lamani. The entire programme was held in Banjara traditional culture and language. The selected talented will be given an opportunity to work in upcoming Banjara films.
There were 13 participating teams from Maharastra, Karnataka, Goa, etc. The event had seven competitions like dance, drama, fashion show, Mr and Miss Banjara, singing, davlo, Banjara bhajan and comedy dialogues. The winner of Satrangi 2018 was Sonal Jadhav and group from Maharashtra who won a cash prize of `25000 and trophy; Sheetal Naik and group from Karnataka were runners-up and third place was won by Sanjeev Kumar Pawar and group from Goa.
Rastriya Banjara Samaj Seva Ratna Puraskar was awarded to Ramesh Khemu Rathod from Pune, actor Dilraj Banjara from Gujrat and deputy sarpanch, Kamla Prasad Yadav for their contribution towards the Banjara community.
Mahadev Chalwadi and 150 Vasco municipality workers were felicitated for their word towards making Vasco garbage free. National Taekando player Pandurang Chavan from the Banjara community along with his students and teachers from Zari School and Kiran Niketan School were also felicitated.
