A day after being nominated by the Congress for the South Goa parliamentary constituency, senior Congress leader Francisco Sardinha on Tuesday exuded confidence of winning the Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking to media persons after meeting his supporters at his residence in Curtorim, Sardinha said, “I am happy to contest the parliamentary polls for the fourth time. If elected, I will work to fulfil my promises.”
Sardinha said that he wants to highlight state and national issues.
“Goa’s main issues include the mining tangle, the CRZ notification, pollution and others.
Changes are being brought about without eliciting public opinion. if I win the Lok Sabha polls, I will undertake the works which people aspire for…,” he said, adding that demonetisation has been a total failure, and that the central government has botched up the GST implementation.
On the Mopa airport, he said that there is a strong need for the new airport.
Sardinha promised to work to keep the Dabolim airport running.
“We need another airport. If we don’t build it now then there will be problem in the next 50 years. The Dabolim airport will always function… I will fight for this, but we need a new airport…,” Sardinha emphasised.
He plans to sit with party workers and supporters and visit all the assembly constituencies in South Goa.
