As a dedication to Mother Mary, the Santa Cecilia Choir and Orchestra of Rachol Seminary this year will present their choral performance themed on Marian and Easter music. The choir conducted by the music professor of Rachol Seminary, Fr Simon Mathew D’Cunha, will have 75 singers and 54 musicians come together to present their collective choral pieces.
The repertoire will consist of Hallelujah – from Bach’s Cantata BWV 143; Gloria, Sanctus-Benedictus: Mass in C major KV 258 by W A Mozart, Magnificat – by Johann Pachelbel; Hail Holy Queen from Sister’s Act – a soprano saxophone solo will be rendered by Braz Gonsalves. ‘Mhozo Otmo Sorvesporak Vakhannta’ – a Konkani Magnificent will be rendered by Gisela Pereira and the youngest violinist Anthea Dias will accompany her as a violin soloist. ‘Noman Marie’ – solo by Sharmila Gracias for which the clarinet soloist will be Roy Menezes. ‘Kristacho Mog Mhaka Thar Dina’ – solo will be sung by Fr Jean da Cruz Fernandes.
A medley of old Marian hymns will be presented by Soprano and alto soloist Kimberly Fernandes and Avina Furtado. For the hymn ‘Gloria’ the soloist will be Effyginia Miranda (soprano), Janis Fernandes (alto), Blaise Lobo (tenor), Elvis Godinho(bass). Benedictus – soloist will be Lanishka Vaz (soprano), Alfreeda Menezes (alto), Clive Diniz (tenor) and Edwin D’Sa (bass).
