The fate of Sanjivani Sugar factory is sealed. Goa government has announced that the factory won’t start in November in the crushing season to produce sugar. However, government will buy sugarcane of farmers at market price.
Instead of sugar, government is thinking of alternate products like Ethanol.
Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude made it clear in the Assembly on Wednesday that the factory won’t open in the next season.
It has appointed a consultant to explore other methods of utilising sugarcane in Goa rather than sugar.
