Panaji: Sangeeta Manzreker was declared elected unopposed and Suresh Mahadevan inflicted another humiliating defeat on one Hemant Angle in the elections to the Indian Cricketers Association (Goa chapter) conducted by the Electoral officer of BCCI.
Sangeeta and Mahadevan form part of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) Managing Committee headed by Suraj Lotlikar. The Computer and Auditor General (CAG) has to nominate its member for the last vacant post in the GCA Managing Committee for 2019-2022.
Hemant, after having lost miserably to 27-year-old Vipul Phadke getting just 24 votes in comparisons to his opponents’ 78, was brutally defeated 27-9 by Suresh in another one sided contest .
“Our election indicates that it is high time that certain people should realise that they are no longer accepted in the cricket
fraternity of Goa. The game has to go on and I am happy to be part of the new managing committee to take cricket in Goa forward,” Sangeeta told this newspaper.
“As member of the GCA, I will get a chance to help players who played with me and have cricket at heart,” added Sangeeta. “I am still not aware of the role we have to play now. Many of us are in the dark. But, I am sure that
as representatives of ICA in the GCA committee we will have to work in tandem with the committee. We cannot be on a confrontationist mode,” said
