Salgaocar FC blank Sesa FA 5-1

Nagoa,Verna: A brace each by Sidney Gaunkar and Flan Crasto and a goal by substitute Joasle Fernandes enabled Salgaocar FC demolish Sesa Football Academy (SFA) 5-1 in the AIFF Junior League – and perch on top of the table with fifteen points from six games – in a match played at Panchayat ground, Nagoa in Verna on Thursday.

Sidney Gaunkar found the mark in the 3rd and 34th minute; Flan Crasto scored in the 33rd and 58th minute and Joasle Fernandes bulged the nets in the 69th minute.

Sesa Football Academy pulled a goal back through medio Crespo D’Souza in the 14th minute.

Salgaocar F C, who dominated both the sessions of play, led 3-1 at half time and had the team converted all the chances that came their way, the scoreline would have been different.

Salgaocar FC went into the lead early on when swift footed and skillful medio Jordan Borges sent a good pass to Sidney who let loose a fierce left footed shot that crashed to the far corner of SFA nets, giving no chance at all to keeper Mansur Manki.

Sesa FA retaliated and after stitching some great counter moves levelled the score when Crespo D’Souza let go a powerful volley to the far corner of Salgaocar FC goal, totally dazing keeper Bob Raj.

Salgaocar FC thereafter began to press hard and with neat passes and positional play completely dominated the proceedings in both sessions.

Salgaocar FC made it 2-1 in their favour when Flan sent a scorching left footer to beat SFA keeper after receiving a good cross from the right flank.

Sidney then made it 3-1 after Jordan laid a neat pass to him. With this action, the teams moved out for the lemon break. The winners could have relaxed luxuriously during the break had they been able to convert at least five chances.

The second session was entirely dominated by Salgaocar FC and knowing well that the match was in their pocket they resorted to some good passing skills.

Sesa defence, however, stood bravely and resisted most of the attacks.

As the match progressed, Flan completed his brace in the 58th minute off a pass from captain Beckham Dias. And then Joasle found the mark in great style in the 69th minute.

Sesa did create some forays in the second half which were sketchy and the Salgaocar FC defence did well to stand their wall.
