Sacred Heart HS win low scoring match

Sacred Heart High School, Parra beat Dattaram Mantrayadi High School, Mapusa by 3 wickets in the U-14 Boys President’s Cup 2019 inter school tournament Bardez zone match played at Binani Ground, Colvale on Monday.

Batting first, Dattaram MHS were bundled out for a mere 55 runs in the first innings, with Mohammad Faizan being the highest scorer with 27 runs. But it was Sacred Heart High School’s Vishal Nishad who picked up five wickets for his team, giving away only 2 runs. Anish Khushwa took two wickets.

In response, Sacred Heart High School, put up an even worse show as they were bowled out for just 48 runs. Shavir Ahmed was the highest scorer with just 12 runs. Mohammad Faizan fo Dattaram MHS, who was also the high scorer for his team in the first innings, picked up 8 wickets and gave away only 8 runs. Akash Naik took two wickets for his team.

Coming into bat in the second innings, Dattaram MHS could not make it to triple figures, their poor batting could manage only 80 runs. Faizan was once again the top scorer, but this time the lad smashed a half ton and put up 61 runs. Sacred Heart’s Shoiab Mohammad scalped four wickets and Vishal Nishad took three for his team.

With not much to win on the score board Sacred Heart HS had to put a better show with their bat as they entered their 2nd innings. They acheived the target of 91 runs with the loss of 7 wickets. Shavir Mohammad scored 43 runs in the winning cause. Dattaram MHS’ Mohammad Faizan once again shone for his team as took another five wicket haul giving away just 24 runs. Akash Naik picked up 2 wickets for 61 runs.
