PONDA: High drama was witnessed during the Bandora gram sabha on Sunday over a proposed mega housing project at Katamgal-Farmagudi. The meeting which started at 11 am went on till 5.30 pm until it was adjourned to February 17.

“Considering the chaotic situation at the gram sabha, the panchayat decided to continue the meeting on February 17 with the same agenda,” informed a panch member.

As per information, locals of Bandora opposing the mega housing project at Katamgal-Farmagudi demanded a written assurance from the panchayat body that it will not grant NOC to the housing project. But the panchayat refrained from giving the written assurance which created a tense situation during the gram sabha.

Villagers kept arguing over the Katamgal-Farmagudi housing project till 3.30 pm. Locals suggested to the panchayat body to adjourn the meeting for lunch and continue the same till evening. Irked over the adjournment, locals restrained other panch members and secretary Sachit Gaude in the panchayat hall by closing the main door. Locals demanded proper assurance from the panchayat body that NOC will not be given for the mega housing project. In the tense situation the police team reached the spot.
