Rossman Cruz book final berth

Majorda: Rossmann Cruz SC entered the final of the Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial football tournament defeating Betalbatim SC 5-4 via the tie breaker, at Musson grounds, Majorda on Wednesday.

The teams played a goalless draw during the regulation time, despite having some glorious chances to find the mark.

Both the teams matched each other well in all the departments of the game and the proceedings looked lively as the teams displayed an attacking football throughout.

Betalbatim SC had the first look at the rival goal when Klusner Pereira unleashed a powerful shot in the 10th minute which missed the mark narrowly.

Rossmann Cruz SC retaliated through their striker Savio Pereira in the very next minute with a long shot which sailed over the bar, giving a real scare to the Betalbatim keeper Rhys Rebello.

Rossmann Cruz’s Francis Fernandes had a good day under the bar as the keeper made some neat collections off Alaric D’Cunha and Sevan Lotlekar in both the sessions of play.

Betalbatim’s defence was ably managed under the leadership of tall and strong looking Manushawn Fernandes who was always there to clear the ball to safety whenever Rossmann Cruz SC launched attacks from both the flanks.

Another player who was noticeable in the proceedings was Rossmann Cruz SC’s attacking medio Eusebio Fernandes who with his neat footwork and dashing display of passes impressed a great deal to create panic in the rival defence quite often.

On one occasion, Eusebio himself unleashed a powerful shot midway in the second half from the tip of the box which Betalbatim keeper Rhys managed to collect with some difficulty.

The last 20 minutes of play saw both the teams sending some long shots which were off the mark.

In the tie breaker Rossman Cruz SC proved to be the better shooters, scoring on all five counts but Betalbatim SC could find the mark only on four

counts.
