Rosary College of Commerce and Arts celebrated Liberation Day with a programme that began with hoisting the flag by the principal, Fr Simao Diniz.
In his speech Diniz spoke about how Goa was in the past and also what would have been the current scenario had Goa not been liberated from the Portuguese. He concluded his address by invoking God’s blessings on Goa and Goans.
Assistant professor, Nazia Shaikh spoke on ‘Goa through the Journey of Liberation’ and mentioned the historical places in Goa where major movements took place and how the Indian Government played an important role in order to liberate Goa from the Portuguese through Operation Vijay. Certificates were awarded to winners of various competitions to acknowledge the efforts put it by students.
Maliva Pereira of SYBBA T& T then spoke on ‘Little Known Story of Goa’s Liberation’. This was followed by a street play which was performed by NSS students on the topic ‘Swacch Goyem’.
