Robotics operating system wins DBCE paper presentation competition

With the aim of promoting the culture of research and innovation among engineering students, and improving communication skills students and generating awareness on the latest developments in technology the department of electronics and telecommunication, Don Bosco College of Engineering organised an intra class technical review paper presentation competition in association with DBEATS.

The papers included: Performance Evaluation of H.265/MPEG-HVEC, VP9 AND H.264/MPEG-AVC Video Coding, ROS: An open-source Robotics operating system, Android application development and its security, Use of cryptography in cloud computing, Office automation using PLC System, Error control techniques and their applications, Artificial Intelligence for speech recognition, OFDM visible light wireless communication based on white LED’s, Optical vehicle to vehicle communication system using LED transmitter and camera receiver, etc.

Judges for the competition were assistant consultant at Tata Consultancy Services, Karl Andrade and assistant professor at Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna, Avita Lotlikar.

First place was won by Siddhesh  Nayak, Luis Gomes, Chandrakant Pal, Rajat Metry and Rohit Sardessai for the paper titled ‘ROS: An open source Robotics operating system’.

Second place was won by Omkar Tamboskar, Parul Chaturvedi, Lisa Carvalho and Meenu Vanpuzhavayahil for the paper titled ‘Optical vehicle to vehicle communication system using LED transmitter and camera receiver’.
