Road mishap: fisherman succumbs to injuries

PONDA: Savoi Verem fisherman Ulhas Naik (52), who was injured after being hit by a speeding SUV at Bhutkhamb on Saturday, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim on Sunday night, informed the Ponda police.

The police are in process of registering offence against Parahladan Sanku, driver of the SUV for rash and negligent driving.

Ulhas was seriously injured after a speeding SUV hit his scooter on the rear side at Bhutkhamb-Querim on Saturday.

He was later rushed at GMC hospital, Bambolim for treatment in a serious condition.

The mishap had occurred at around 8.40 am, on Saturday.

Ulhas was proceeding towards Savoi-Verem from Arla-Querim on his Activa scooter with a bucket full of

fish.

As he reached Bhutkhamb downhill road, a speeding Scorpio SUV, proceeding in the same direction, allegedly dashed against his scooter, resulting in Naik sustaining head injuries.
