As part of its CSR initiative, Putzmeister, Verna, funded and constructed an extension to a boy’s orphanage, Bethesda Life Centre (BLC) in Santa Cruz. .
The inauguration of the extension was by Wilfried Theissen, managing director, Putzmeister Concrete Machines Pvt Ltd and Tony Fernandes, MLA, Santa Cruz. Speaking at the inauguration, Theissen said, “It gives us great joy to support Bethesda Life Centre in their continuing commitment to shelter children in need.”
When BLC wanted to expand their junior boy’s home, Putzmeister was happy to do it for them. The company used in-house expertise and external consultants to get the new structure ready in just three months. The expansion will help to add 50 more beds to the 100 already available beds. Elevating the structure gives children at the orphanage a sheltered place to play outside during the monsoons.
Allen Diniz, head of production, Brynner Dsouza, head of quality, Sarah Burlet-Bouton, head of marketing and Beaula Knauf, CSR Consultant from Putzmeister were also present to celebrate this joyous occasion with the children residing at the centre. Also in attendance were Martin Philip, managing trustee BLC, Bina Martin, director of operations, Victor Fernandes, ex MLA Santa Cruz, and Suchit Rao, sarpanch and panch of Santa Cruz.
Thanking Putzmeister, Philip and Martin said “Over the years Putzmeister consistently supported over 100 distressed children under the care of Bethesda Life Centre. Thank you for building a new big dormitory for our boys. Thank you for your priceless partnership extended toward BLC since the year 2014.”
Putzmeister has been supporting BLC since 2014 under its CSR programme and has been providing support in the form of monthly rations, bunk beds, mattresses, clothing, birthday and Christmas celebrations and in many other ways that help make the children feel loved and comfortable.
