Our Lady of Merces High School, Merces held its annual PTA meeting. The meeting began with principal, Fr Remedious Britto Furtado, headmaster John Fernandes and other members lighting the traditional lamp. A motivational dance ‘Go light your world’ was presented by students after which teacher Sharmila said a prayer.
In his speech principal, Fr Remedious Britto Furtado highlighted the role of parents. He asked them to spend quality time with their children as it would help in their all-round growth and development. He also told them to be in constant touch with the school authorities to know about their ward’s academic performance.
Guest speaker, Rupali Vernekar from Family Service Centre presented on ‘Effective parenting’ and urged parents to give their children love and attention as that would help them grow into responsible citizens. Headmaster John Fernandes briefed the parents about the school’s policies, rules and regulations.
The school management felicitated students who excelled at the Goa Board examination March 2018 with a memento. Novem Pavl, a Parish Bulletin Committee in Merces also felicitated students with a cash prize of `2000 each.
The students felicitated were Sweta Gaunder (81.16 per cent), Arif Mulla (78.16 per cent), Siddesh Usgaonkar (78 per cent), Sanjana Naik (77.16 per cent), Dishant Mandrekar (75.83 per cent), Manisha Prajapat (75.50 per cent) and Saili Savoiverekar (75 per cent). The overall passing percentage of the school was 95.45 per cent with a total of seven students securing distinction, 13 first classes, 27 second classes and 16 pass classes.
