Prostitution racket busted at Arpora, duo held, 5 girls rescued

Busting a prostitution racket operating at Arpora, Anjuna police arrested two persons and rescued five girls including a Russian national in the wee hours of Thursday.

Acting on reliable information, Anjuna PI Navlesh Dessai along with staff of Anjuna police conducted a raid at a club at Arpora wherein five victim girls including a Russian national was rescued and two accused identified as Santosh Rathod, 32 and Manish Sharma, 26 were arrested by police. Police informed that a minor boy was also detained and later sent to Apna Ghar.

According to Anjuna police, the raid was conducted at around 1 am on Thursday. Police informed that the victim girls were allegedly brought by one Shyam Bharati who is main accused along with other accused person. Police also informed that during investigation it was revealed that the accused persons were living on the earning of the victim.

In tAhis connection, Anjuna police have registered an offence under Section 370 (A)(2)read with 34 of Indian Penal Code, sections 3, 4 and 5 of immoral traffic (prevention) act 1956. The two accused Santosh Rathod and Manish Sharma are remanded to seven days police custody while the main accused Shyam Bharati is absconding. Police also sent all the rescued girls to protective homes.

PI Navlesh Dessai is further investigating the case.
