A seminar on block chain technology was conducted recently at PCCE Engineering college, Verna. The seminar attended by e-cell students of the college was conducted by Jason Fernandes, co-founder and COO of Malta based AEToken.
Students were introduced to block chain how it works and what it means exactly. Students were educated on various uses of the technology in the government, in the medical field, with refugees and several others. The session ended interactively with question and answer round. Later in the afternoon, the Bigg Leap 2018 a business idea competition was held in collaboration with CIBA.
The Bigg Leap programme aimed at increasing exposure towards business opportunities to young entrepreneurs. It also aimed at encouraging the students of PCCE to find career alternatives through innovation and startups as well as advantages of self employment. In all 12 teams from various colleges such as GEC, AITD, DBCE, Carmel college and the host college PCCE presented their ideas in both technical and non-technical categories.
The judges for the finals were, Jason Fernandes, Rohin Parker, founder, Mrinq Technologies, Ryan Vaz, founder, Infinyt 3D, Gautami Raiker, director and CEO, LawMate.in and Amey Karmali, manager, CIBA.
Dave Paiva and Ms. Kristen Collaco bagged the first place in the competition while, Alvina Almeida (Carmel College) emerged second and the third place was share between Dikshita Desai, Biswas Tiwari and Siddhi Gangulikar, PCCE.
Principal Dr Mahesh Parappagoudar congratulated the teams and gave away the prizes. Associate professor, Prof. Niyan Marchon and assistant professor, Prof. Alzira Xavier, both from the training and placement cell, PCCE, conducted the event and student Vidhi Malhotra was the compere for the occasion.
