The first Compact Sub Station (CSS) in the city, under the Smart Cities Mission will be commissioned later this week, which will replace the old, dilapidated transformer.
The Smart Cities Mission proposes replacement of 26 such transformers in Panaji, and 10 in Ribandar including four located near the Old Goa Institute of Management, Michelle Hotel, Patto area and Chorao ferry wharf.
The Chief Executive Officer of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) Swayandipta Pal Chaudhuri informed that the office of the State Electrical Inspectorate, an agency under the department of electricity, has granted the approval for commissioning of the Compact Sub-Station and the first such CSS would be installed opposite Mascarenhas Building in the city. “Other such Compact Sub-Station will be installed at Kamat Complex, Tonca,” he added.
Speaking further, The IPSCDL CEO stated that the State Electrical Inspectorate has duly inspected CSS and HT underground cable from the Hira petrol pump to tapping point RMU at Merces and Chandradeep Apartment to Raj Excellency Apartment at Ribandar, and on June 3 granted an approval to energise the particular electrical equipment.
“Therefore, the crumbling power infrastructure in the
capital city would now have this first intervention, which would come in terms
of its up-gradation, and how this is going to be carried out along with the
undergrounding of the cables at
the rest of the places,” he maintained.
