Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday scotched the rumours that his party colleague and Fisheries Minister Vinod Palienkar would be dropped from the state cabinet to make way for BJP legislator Michael Lobo.
Matters like ministerial berth cannot be decided by leaking information to the media selectively, the Goa Forward Party supremo said.
There have been news reports which claimed that Palienkar would be dropped from the cabinet to make way for Lobo.
It is pertinent to note here that during the recent allocation of additional portfolios Palienkar was the only minister who was not allocated additional portfolio.
Speaking to media persons in Fatorda on the sidelines of a function, Sardesai asserted that nobody has spoken to him on replacing Palienkar with Lobo in the state cabinet.
“Nobody has discussed it with me. I have been in touch with the BJP national president. No such talks have been held. We are an alliance partner of the NDA and therefore we talk to the BJP high command. This is a matter which cannot be decided by leaking information to the media selectively,” he said.
Dropping of a minister will not take place at a time when the assembly session is round the corner, he maintained.
When asked whether the GPF will continue to be part of the government with all the three ministers, Sardesai responded positively, reiterating that dropping of any GFP minister will not take place.
Asked to respond to the rumours that Lobo is likely to be inducted in the Sawant ministry, Sardesai said that although Lobo is a natural ally of the GFP, the Calangute MLA will not be the minister at the cost of Palienkar.
Sardesai, however, said that dropping of another minister (not from the GFP) cannot be ruled out.
