Amitabh Bachchan has landed himself in controversy once again. This time, for sharing dais with the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr Ashok Chavan at the inauguration of Northern Carriageway of the Bandra-Worli Sealink on March 24.

Some Congressmen were unhappy over invitation to Bachchan who is brand ambassador of BJP-ruled Gujarat. A probe was demanded, whether Mr Bachchan came on his own or someone from the government or party invited him. It is indeed a matter of shame that the Congress leaders were treating him as pariah. The episode is a pointer that some Congressmen would love to malign Bachchan just in order to please Ms Sonia Gandhi. The Gandhis and Bachchans may have differences on many issues but this does not grant permission to malign any one of them. It is indeed disgusting to watch that soon after this incident, posters of his actor son Abhishek Bachchan were hurriedly removed from Earth Hour event in Delhi where chief minister Ms Sheila Dikshit was a guest. By agreeing to become the brand ambassador for Gujarat tourism Bachchan has certainly not committed any act of national shame. Earlier he had endorsed Uttar Pradesh. Ms Sonia Gandhi needs to berate her partymen to be less loyal than the queen. For the more they shun and malign the Bachchans, the more petty the Gandhis appear in the public eye.
