A Booming Industry

THE call centre industry is booming in India. According to a NASSCOM study, the key reasons why India has emerged as the most preferred location for MNCs to outsource their call centre business are a vast pool of skilled manpower, low staff costs and English-speaking manpower. Call centres make a key part of the IT-enabled services industry.

It is growing because of the success achieved by call centres operating in India. The call centre industry is a big revenue earner in ITES sector. Most of the global corporations and business houses in India are enthusiastically exploring the industry because India has certain inherent advantages. The government of India, having realised the magnitude of gainful employment this industry can provide, is actively promoting it.
