HDFC Bank partnered with Siolim-Marna Village Panchayat to set up an online tax payment gateway for the residents. With the launch of the gateway, residents will now be able to make payments for tax collections online for various services like house tax, electricity tax, garbage tax and professional tax payments in a quick and convenient manner, by any debit card or net-banking facility, from the comfort of their homes or offices.
The facility was launched at a function in Siolim Village, by Vinod Palyekar, minister for water resources, fisheries and legal metrology, Mauvin Godinho, minister for panchayat raj and Manohar Azgaonkar, minister for tourism. At present, residents of Siolim Village make tax payments physically at the panchayat office through demand draft, cheque or cash, which can be a time-consuming process. The initiative will reduce the time spent commuting and queuing up to make the tax payments. It will also allow people who have moved out of the city to make their tax payments in a timely manner.
“We are happy to partner with the Siolim-Marna panchayat on this initiative. This is a big step in the evolution of the payment mechanism for services provided by the panchayat and will offer the residents increased convenience and flexibility to make tax payments,” said Ajit Dalvi, circle head, HDFC Bank. Under the Go Digital campaign started in 2014, the bank has host of new digital banking products.
