A hat-trick of goals by striker Aston Oliveira and a brace each by Jeston Fernandes and Daryl Costa enabled Sao Jose de Areal to hammer Navelim Sporting Club 7-3 and enter the final of 47th Custodio Memorial football tournament played at panchayat grounds, Raia on Saturday.
Sao Jose de Areal who were leading 3-1 at half time dominated both the sessions of play and scored at will through Jeston Fernandes (10th and 61st minute), Daryl Costa (13th and 31st minute) and Aston Oliveira who easily became the hero of the match by scoring a hat-trick of goals, bulging the nets in the 39th, 50th and 69th minute
Navelim Sporting scored quite early to take the lead; they bulged the nets through Climax Lawrence (3rd minute) and Clinton Niasso who scored a brace finding the mark in the 40th and 61st minute.
Navelim team started the match on a promising note by going into the lead through Climax Lawrence who tapped a cross, easily beating Sao Jose de Areal keeper Joseph Monteiro.
On the other hand, Sao Jose de Areal impressed with their dazzling display as they latched on to smart passes, creating goal scoring chances one after the other.
Jeston Fernandes, Darul Costa and Aston Oliveira proved to be a deadly combination for Sao Jose de Areal as the trio could not be stopped at all by the Navelim Sporting defence from finding the mark.
